Abstract

Asymmetric dimer of N-substituted 1,2-benzothiazines were obtained from oxidative dimerization in the presence of silver(I) oxide. Optimal reaction was sucessfully proceeded through stirring of distilled acetone using 100mol£¥ of silver(I) oxide at room temperature for 40 h. Totomerization of 4-hydroxy moiety took place during the first course of dimerization, which followed 3-hydroxy of 1,2-benzothiazine through oxidative radical reaction between carbon-hydrogen bond with silver(I) oxide. Nucleophillic attack of another oxygen nucleophile molecules gave to dimer 6a-g with dehydration A mechanism for the dimerization have been proposed.
